CAIRO - 2 April 2020: Al Ahly SC announced on Wednesday that Ahmed Fathy won’t renew his contract with Al Ahly and will leave the club by the end of this season.

It has been reported that the 35-year-old right-back [Fathy] refused to extend his contract with Al Ahly after receiving a stronger offer financially from Pyramids FC.

As a result, Al Ahly released an official statement wishing Fathy all the best of luck in his future career.

On a similar note, Fathy’s former agent Nader Shawky explained that Al Ahly did everything that the club is capable of in order for Fathy to renew his contract.

“Al Ahly agreed on all the player’s demands. However, Fathy changed his mind in the end. Of course, Pyramids FC had a better financial offer for 3 years. However, I advised Fathy to stay at Al Ahly especially that he is one of the big names at the club,” Shawky said to Yallakora.

Lastly, Fathy who is considered to be one of Al Ahly’s key players was able to lift more than 15 trophies during his time at Al Ahly.
