CAIRO – 28 March 2020: Zamalek manager, Patrice Carteron, will keep his position as Zamalek manager despite the suspension of football competitions in Egypt amid the spread of coronavirus, according to Zamalek chairman, Mortada Mansour.

"Carteron is a great manager and he decided to stay in Egypt since the crisis started. He will keep his position whatever happened." Mansour said on Saturday.

Carteron has had a massive impact on Zamalek since he was appointed as the club manager, having led the club to secure the Egyptian Super Cup title, African Super Cup title as well as securing a spot at the CAF Champions League semi-final.

Mansour reflected on the rumors regarding the cancellation of the season, saying" What concerns me more is the safety of the people in Egypt."

On 14 March, Egyptian Football Association, EFA, announced on Saturday that all football-related activities are suspended for two weeks as a result of the spread of coronavirus.

The suspension includes fixtures of all Egyptian league divisions and age groups.
