CAIRO – 18 June 2017: The officials of Besiktas Sporting Club, Turkish handball club, have successfully completed the transfer of the Egyptian handball goalkeeper Karim Hendawy commonly known as Katonga on Saturday.

Katonga who played for Zamalek last year completed his move to Besiktas after this contract with the Egyptian team ended.

This transfer means that Katonga will be able to play in European handball with his club for the first time in his professional career. Also, it will allow him to play in the upcoming EHF Champions League tournament.

Katonga’s new team Besiktas has a successful record of winning the Handball Turkish League from 2009 until now.

Katonga who recently joined Besiktas started his professional career at Al-Ahly then he went to Zamalek SC before returning back to Al-Ahly and then going to Zamalek for the second time. Katonga made more than 360 appearances with the Egyptian National Team.

Zamalek has signed the Egyptian National Team player Mahmoud Khalil as a replacement for Katonga.
