Pharaohs join Nantes 3x3 basketball World Cup

CAIRO - 17 June 2017: Egypt’s national 3x3 basketball team departed Cairo for France Friday to participate in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup which will take place in Nantes, France from June 17-21.

Team manager Wesam Gaber led the Pharaohs team, which consists of four players: Haitham Kamal (Alexandria Sporting Club), Ramy Ibrahim and Ahmed Al Sabbagh (Al Zamalek) and Mido Taha (Ittihad).

The Pharaohs will play among group A which includes world champion Serbia, Russia, Puerto Rico and Andorra.

3x3 basketball made its first appearance on the international stage in the 2010 Youth Olympics Games (YOG) which took place in Singapore. In December 2011 FIBA's Central Board gave permission for an international calendar of competitions beginning in 2012 and including the FIBA 3x3 World Cup and the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.

The mains rules of 3x3 are as follows:

• 1 basket on 1 half-court

• 2 teams of 3 players and up to 1 substitute per team

• 12-seconds shot-clock

• 1st team to reach 21 points or best after 10 minutes win
