CAIRO – 6 December 2019: Saudi Arabia shocked Qatari fans who packed Al Wakra Stadium to support their team at the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup semis.

The Saudi Arabian side defeated AFC Asian Cup winners 1-0 thanks to a goal from Abdulla Al Hamdan at the first half to secure a spot at the final.

Saudi Arabia, led by veteran French manager, Herve Renard, dominated the game from the start showing they are the better side and stopped all Qatari attempts to equalize the score.

Saudi Arabia, who suffered a shocking loss at the opening game against Kuwait, bounced back with three victories over to pave the way towards the final where they will face Bahrain.

Bahrain defeated Iraq at the other semi-final on penalties after the game’s 120 minutes ended with a 2-2 draw.

The two teams met at the group stage and the Saudi side secured a 2-0 victory.

Bahrain aim to secure their first Gulf Cup title while the Saudi players are chasing their fourth title.
