CAIRO – 29 November 2019: Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder, Fabinho, will be out of action for the next six weeks after suffering an injury during the UEFA Champions League encounter against Napoli.

“Liverpool can confirm Fabinho suffered ankle ligament damage during the Champions League encounter with Napoli in midweek.” The club statement said on Friday.

Fabinho was forced to leave the pitch after only 18 minutes to be replaced by Georginio Wijnaldum in the game which ended with a 1-1 draw.

Liverpool statement added “The Brazilian will begin a rehabilitation programme with the Reds’ medical team at Melwood as he works his way back to full fitness.”

Fabinho established himself as one of the key players at the premier league leaders and he had a massive contribution in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Manchester City at the biggest game of the season which gave Liverpool a comfortable lead at the title race.

Liverpool will face Brighton on Saturday afternoon and they aim to keep their winning streaks alive.

The Reds are leading the table with 37 points, eight points ahead of the second placed, Leicester City.
