Egypt coach Shawky Gharib has denied the rumors that claim his position as head coach for the first national team.

Gharib led Egypt to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by winning the U-23 African Cup of Nations, and he was clear regarding his coaching to the First national team.

Egypt's Olympic coach was a guest on Al Hikaya program on MBC Egypt, he was asked if he could coach the first team in case he was offered the chance to do so.

"Then I will say I want to stay at the Olympics. I want to achieve something for Egypt with those players," he said.

"My answer is No; These players are more important than anything, and I have to be responsible."

He continued: "Hossam El-Badri needs more time, the period was short after taking over the first team."

Gharib raised expectations for his team's ability to go far at the Tokyo Olympics.
