Song assures his team is ready for Egypt

CAIRO – 14 November 2019: Cameroon face the host nation, Egypt, at Cairo International Stadium at the last round of the group stage of 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.

The Lions needs a draw to secure a spot at the semi-finals and qualify to the second round alongside already qualified Egypt whatever the result of the other game between Ghana and Mali.

“Egypt has the advantage going to this game, and we still have to work hard to reach the next round. I believe every player will be ready to face the hosts.” Cameroon Olympics team manager, Rigobert Song, said.

Egypt secured a semi-final spot as they defeated Mali and Ghana respectively to gain six points after a strong start at the competition.

Cameroon comes second at the group with 4 points after a draw with Ghana and a victory over Mali and The Lions need one point to secure qualification to the second round.

Song added “. We will show the same determination as we did against Ghana and Mali. Impossible is nothing on football.”

Cameroon won the Gold Medal during 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney to be the second African nation to win the prestigious medal after the Nigerian team in 1996.
