CAIRO – 1 November 2019: Al-Ahli Jeddah defeated Al-Ittihad 2-1 on Thursday night at the Saudi Arabian Premier League to keep their supremacy over the derby in Jeddah.

Al-Ahli, led by former Zamalek manager, Christian Gross, opened the score after 13 minutes by Abdulfattah Asiri and they doubled the score minutes before half time through their veteran Syrian striker, Omar Al Somah.

Ziyad Al-Sahafi’s goal for Al-Ittihad at the second half was not enough for the team to return in the game and the game ended with a 2-1 victory for Al-Ahli.

Al-Ahli, known as The Royal, continued their dominance and they achieved their 8th victory at the derby during the last 15 games while their opponents failed to put an end to their poor record at the derby since 2012 when they achieved their last victory at the derby.

Al-Ittihad historic captain, Mohamed Noor, criticized the players after the game, saying “These players gave nothing to the club and the fans. We do not see any reactions from the players after Al-Ahli scored and they do not have desire to bounce back.”

Al-Ahli reached 17 points and they are second at the league table, three points behind Al Hilal while Al-Ittihad have gained 9 points at the league to stay at the 12th position.
