CAIRO, 21 July 2019: Zidane sent a warm message to the Algerian people and their national team to congratulate them after winning the 2019 AFCON title.

Algeria crowned champions of Africa with a 1-0 win over Senegal in Cairo stadium.The Desert warriorrs won their second title in the history since 1990.

Zidane did not delay in congratulating Algeria through his account at Instagram. He posted a picture of the players in the dressing room after the game and commented: " My older brother Farid is now proud. Congrats to the Algerian team, this victory for the whole people, 1,2,3 Long live Algeria.”



Zidane was born in Marseilles to Algerian immigrants. His brother, Farid, died several days ago, forcing him to leave the Real Madrid preparatory camp in Canada and return home urgently, before joining the Spanish team delegation again.


Baghdad Boundjeh scored the only goal in the first minute of the match after his shot has been deflected by Senegal’s defender.

Algeria’s midfielder, Ismail Bennaser, has been named 2019 AFCON Best player after his amazing performance all the championship.
