Cameroon vs Nigeria - FILE
CAIRO - 6 July 2019: Cameroon & Nigeria, with four African Cup of Nations’ titles, will meet on Alexandria stadium, while Egypt begin big matches against South Africa.
The 16th round of the African Cup of Nations kicked off on Friday; some people consider that this round is the real start of the African tournament.
The round started with two matches between Morocco vs Benin and Uganda vs Senegal. Benin shocked the world & eliminated Morocco while Senegal defeated Uganda. Senegal & Benin will meet each other in the AFCON quarter-finals.
Cameroon vs Nigeria
Cameroon & Nigeria qualified to this round after coming second in their groups.
Cameroon didn’t defeat Nigeria since their match in the 1990 World Cup qualifiers. But in AFCON, they met six times; both team won twice and they drew in two games.
Cameroon defeated Nigeria in three different AFCON Finals; 1984, 1988 and 2000 by penalty shootouts.
So, how will Cameroon deal with the Green Eagles this time?
The match will be held at Alexandria stadium at 06:00 p.m. CLT.
Egypt vs South Africa
2019 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 will witness a tough clash on Saturday night at Cairo International Stadium when Egypt face South Africa.
Egypt reached the second round as group leaders while South Africa finished third at the group and reached the second round as one of the best four third placed teams at the competition.
Egypt has an amazing record against South Africa at AFCON tournaments. Egypt faced South Africa twice and both of them ended with a victory for the Egyptian team.
