CAIRO, 1 July 2019:For the fourth time in the history of Egypt and the African Cup of Nations, the Pharaohs achieve the full mark in the group stage.

Egypt finished the group stage as leaders after achieving three straight victories over Zimbabwe, DR Congo, and Uganda.

Egypt calmed Egyptian fans over the team's ability to go far at the competition with a fine display especially at the last minutes of the first half.

The team achieved the full mark in the group stage in the 1974, 2000 and 2010 editions.
In 1974, the team defeated Uganda, Zambia and Cote d'Ivoire and won 6 points because the victory was then two points. We finished in the third place after Zaire eliminated us out of the semi-finals, despite our hosting of the tournament.

The second time we achieved the full mark was in the 2000 edition held in Ghana and Nigeria. We beat Zambia, Senegal and Burkina Faso, but we lost to Tunisia in the quarter-finals.

The 2010 Version has seen the last time we achieved the full mark. Three victories over Nigeria, Benin and Mozambique, and we ended the tournament as Champions.

This year’s edition of Africa Cup of Nations is considered the biggest Africa Cup of Nations ever with 24 teams.

The top two teams of each group, along with the best four third-placed teams, will reach the second round.
