Congo captain hopes for a reaction against Egypt

CAIRO_26 June 2019: DR Congo national team captain, YoussufMulumbu, revealed on Tuesday that they have a great desire to defeat Egypt and revive their hopes at the competition.

Congo national team suffered an unexpected 2-0 defeat at the opening game against Uganda and they need a positive result against Egypt to avoid an early exit from the tournament.

“It was difficulty for us to lose the first match but we worked as a team with the coach and will do our best tomorrow.” Mulumbu said during the pre-match press conference.

Congo coach, FlorentIbenge, spoke during the press conference about how he and his players reacted to the opening game’s result.

Ibenge said “Against Uganda we made some mistakes and we were not competitive enough to win. We worked on our defects. Egypt is a different match and we will have a new strategy as we need to win.”

Egypt and Uganda share the top at Group A, 3 points each, while Zimbabwe and DR Congo stays at the bottom.

This year’s edition of Africa Cup of Nations is considered the biggest Africa Cup of Nations ever with 24 teams.
