CAIRO - 06 May 2019: The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced that Cüneyt Çakır will officiate the encounter between Liverpool and FC Barcelona.

Liverpool hosts FC Barcelona in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final on Tuesday at Anfield stadium.

FC Barcelona thrashed the Reds 3-0 in the first leg; thanks to Messi’s brace and Liverpool’s former player, Luis Suarez.

This is Çakır 8th game to officiate this season in the UEFA Champions League.

Çakır ruled one match for Barcelona this season against Olympique Lyon in France and ended with a goalless draw in the quarter-finals.

While, he ruled for Liverpool one match against Paris St Germain in the group stages; the Reds defeated the French men 3-2.

The two teams have a great record with Çakır, as both of them never tasted the bitter taste of loss under the Turkish referee.
