CAIRO – 7 June 2017: Mahmoud Hassan Trezguet will not be able to play for Egypt in the national team’s upcoming match against Tunisia due to a leg injury.

Team physician Mohamed Abo el-Ela told the Egyptian press that Trezguet needs rest after the injury he received Tuesday while training alone. Abo el-Ela said the player may need to have stitches in his leg before he can play again.

The Egyptian National team will play the first match in the African Cup 2019 Qualifications against Tunisia on Sunday, June 11. Egypt is in the 10th group, Group J, with Tunisia, Niger and Swaziland.

The Egyptian National Team is ranked first in Africa and 20th worldwide in the latest FIFA ranking.

Trezguet is a former Al-Ahly and Mouscron and current RSC Anderlect player, and is expected to be looking for a new club this summer. RSC Anderlecht officials have revealed Terzguet will not stay with the club next year.

Trezguet has been linked with a transfer to the Bundesliga this summer after receiving an offer from one of the German clubs.
