CAIRO – 9 April 2019: Liverpool Dutch defender, Virgil Van Dijk, stated on Monday that the media is the reason behind the pressure on his Egyptian teammate, Mohamed Salah.

“Salah is always lively, always happy, always wants to work hard and gives everything for the team. I think that's what Liverpool is all about. Everyone is giving everything for the team, for the club.” Van Dijk told press ahead of UEFA Champions League quarter final clash against Porto.

Salah returned to his goal scoring form on Friday when he led his team to achieve a 3-1 victory over Southampton to keep his team chances a live at the premier league title race.

Salah ended his 9 games goal drought when he scored the second goal for Liverpool 10 minutes before the final whistle to grant his team the lead in the game.

Van Dijk added “Obviously he didn't score for a couple of games, but I think the pressure or the talk only came from the press and the media. He was playing well, he was very important for us and he's still having a fantastic season.”
