CAIRO – 27 August 2018: Egypt lost 93-47 to Mali on Sunday in FIBA Under-18 Basketball African Championship, Bamako 2018, currently held in Mali.

The competition draw put Egypt in Group A alongside Libya, Mali, DR Congo, Guinea and Uganda.

Egypt started their run at the competition with a 115-38 victory over Libya before defeating Guinea 111-61.

Egypt comes in the third position in the group behind Mali and DR Congo.

The Egyptian team is looking to win their sixth title in the history of the tournament and their first title since 2014 when they achieved the title in Madagascar after defeating Tunisia at the final.

Egypt reached the final in 2016 but lost to Angola 86-82.

Egypt will face Congo on Tuesday night at the fourth round of the group stage.
