Egypt’s medal count on the rise in Tarragona 2018

Cairo – 27June 2018: Egyptian successes at Mediterranean Games in Tarragona continue as Egyptian weightlifter, Sara Samir added two Gold Medals for Egypt while gymnast Nancy Taman won her first Gold Medal on vault.

Sara won snatch, clean and jerk Gold Medals in Women’s 69 Kg class.




Mediterranean Games has a special position in Sara’s heart as she first participated on Senior Level competitions in 2013 in Mersin, Turkey and she was competing in 63 kg class.

She won the Gold Medal in Clean and jerk, Bronze medal in Snatch and the Silver Medal in overall.

Sara, 20, is the first female Egyptian Olympian to be presented with a medal on the podium when she won the Bronze medal in 69kg class at 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Weightlifter, Ragab Abel-Hay added another Gold Medal for Egypt at snatch at 94 KG.

Egyptian wrestler, Hossam Merghany won the Bronze Medal at 79 KG class.




Wrestler, Samy Mostafa won the Silver Medal of 74 KG class.

Ali Zahran also added a Silver Medal for Egypt at Gymnastics on Ring.

Egypt’s medals count on the rise as Egypt won 30 medals; 11 Gold Medals, 8 Silver Medals and 11 Bronze Medals.

Egypt participates in the 18th edition of the Mediterranean Games with 170 players.

Tarragona is hosting the tournament between June 22 and July 1.
