CAIRO – 7 May 2018: The UEFA declared on Monday that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah won the Goal of the Week award in the Champions League semi-finals.

Salah’s first goal against AS Roma in the first leg of the semi-final held at Anfield, which ended with a 5-2 victory for Liverpool, came from a shot from outside the box, which touched crossbar before shaking Roma’s nets.

The Egyptian was competing with Real Madrid’s Marcelo and Marco Asensio, Roma’s Radja Nainggolan, and Joshua Kimmich, who plays for Bayern Munich, but Salah defeated all of them with 47% of the votes.

Liverpool reached the final of the Champions League after beating Roma in the semi-final of the tournament with total score of 7-6 in both matches. They will now face last season’s CL champions, Real Madrid, who qualified after defeating Bayern Munich. It is worth mentioning that Liverpool hasn’t qualified to the final since 2007, when the team lost to AC Milan.
