CAIRO – 3 March 2018: Al-Ahly prepares to start its African journey through the CAF African Champions League on Tuesday, as the team is scheduled to face Gabon’s CF Mounana.

Ahmed Ayoub, general coach of Al-Ahly’s football team, has stressed on the difficulty of facing Mounana in the opening of the African tour this season, scheduled for Tuesday at Cairo Stadium, in the round of the 32 of the African Champions League. Ayoub said in a statement to Al-Ahly’s official website that Mounana is distinguished and has good elements, and it must be respected.

Al-Ahly’s general coach added that the beginnings are always difficult in major tournaments, and they need to focus heavily in the first leg to achieve a good result before the second-leg match, which will be hosted by the Gabonese team. He referred also to the importance of playing in the African Champions League another time at Cairo International Stadium, which creates an advantage.

Al-Ahly attacking midfielder Ahmed Hamoudi will return to participate in the team’s trainings following Mounana’s Tuesday game, after the player had faced an injury in the 26th round match against El-Entag el-Harby, as he left the pitch early in the 37th minute of the game.

Gabonese team Mounana is expected to arrive in Cairo on Sunday morning in preparation for the first-leg game of the 32nd round of CAF Champions League.

The Al-Ahly delegation will receive vaccinations before traveling to Gabon on the morning of March 14 for the second-leg match against Mounana, which scheduled for March 17, according to Sayed Abdel Hafiz, the club's sports director.
