CAIRO – 5 January 2018: Al-Ahly SC triumphed alongside Mohammed Salah, the current Liverpool player, to form the CAF’s finest XI line-up of 2017 for Africa.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the best line-up of the African continent in 2017, according to the fans’ choice.

Al-Ahly players’ Ahmed Fathy, along with Tunisia's Ali Maaloul and Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi featured in the African line-up.

Here is the chosen line-up:
Goalkeeper: Ayman Al-Mathlouthi (Etoile du Sahel, Tunisia)
Defenders: Ahmed Fathi (Al-Ahly, Egypt) - Eric Bailey (Manchester United, England) - Ali Maaloul (Al-Ahly, Egypt)
Midfielders: Mohamed Onagem (Wydad Casablanca, Morocco) - Karim Al-Ahmadi (Feyenoord, Holland) - Ashraf Borgaki (Wydad Casablanca, Morocco) - Junior Ajay (Al-Ahly, Egypt)
Attack: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, England) - Taha Yassin Al-Khneisi (Esperance Sportive, Tunisia) - Khalid Boutaib (Maltia Sport, Turkey).
Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah won the CAF player of the year award, the first one for Egypt in 35 years.

Egypt and Hector Cuper also won 2017 CAF awards in the ceremony held on Thursday in Accra, Ghana.
