CAIRO – 22 December 2017: Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde announced on Friday the squad who will travel to Madrid to play against Real Madrid on Saturday in the game known as El Clasico, which attracts millions of football fans.

Barcelona’s squad for the game consists of Marc Andre Ter Stergen, Jasper Cillessen, Nelson Semedo, Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto, Javier Mascherano, Thomas Vermaelen, Jordi Alba, Lucas Digne, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Andre Gomes, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Alex Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, Jose Paulo and Denis Suarez.

Valverde excluded Paco Alcacer, Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Umtiti from the trip due to injury. He also excluded Gerard Deulofeu, Arda Turan and Rafinha Alcantara.

Barcelona’s expected starting eleven for the game are Ter Stegen, Pique, Roberto, Vermaelen, Alba, Paulinho, Busquets, Iniesta, Rakitic, Messi and Luis Suarez.

Barcelona will fly to Madrid on Friday afternoon to prepare for the game.

The team leads the Spanish League table with 42 points, six points ahead of the second-placed Atletico Madrid and 11 points ahead of Real Madrid, who still has a postponed game against Leganes.
