CAIRO – 21 December 2017: Swansea City announced on Wednesday that they have sacked their manager, Paul Clement, after their poor results in the Premier League.

“To change the manager, especially at only halfway through the season, is the last thing we wanted to do as a club. But we felt we couldn't leave it any longer and needed to make a change to give us the best chance of an uplift,” Swansea’s statement said.

Swansea are suffering this season in the Premier League. Having lost 12 games, they are at the bottom of the Premier League with 12 points from 18 games in total. The team won three times and drew in three others.

Clement spoke after the decision, saying, “I know what football is about. It is about getting results and winning. I'm sure if I can get the team to do that, then I am going to be okay here."

Clement, 45, was appointed as Swansea City’s manager in January, and he led the team to not relegate last season.

Swansea lost 3-1 to Everton on Monday at the Premier League.
