CAIRO – 14 October 2017: A source within Zamalek SC board confirmed that the withdrawal from the Egyptian League competition is unlikely, stressing that the threat of withdrawal is a normal consequence to the club's continuous exposure to injustice due to arbitration errors.

The source added that not withdrawing from the league does not mean that the board will leave Zamalek’s rights; the matter will surely be escalated with Egyptian Football Association in different forms in the few coming days, as Zamalek’s board prefers to wait for the arrival of Hany Abu Reda, head of EFA to Cairo within hours.

It is worth mentioning that Murtada Mansour, the president of Zamalek, has announced that the team will not play the rest of the league's matches after the events of Tanta match on Friday October 13 in Ghazal Al-Mahalla Stadium. In the match, the referee, Mahmoud Bassiouni, counted two penalty kicks that were both regarded as a wrong decision from the refree's side; especially that the second penalty was the reason of the equalizing goal for Tanta, leading the game to end in a 1-1 draw.
