CAIRO – 9 October 2017: The Egyptian National Team’s former player, Amir Adel known as Alexander Jakobsen, congratulated his teammates in the national team after beating Congo 2-1 on Sunday, qualifying to the World Cup after 28 years of absence.

Amir, 23, received his first call up to the first Egyptian team under Hector Cuper's management when he played against Togo in a friendly game.

Amir who plays at Swedish club, Norrköping, is an Egyptian promising talent who has a chance to convince the national team manager, Hector Cuper to add him to Egypt's squad for the World Cup.

Amir Adel is a Danish-born Egyptian who preferred to play for Egypt instead of Denmark. He represented Egypt’s youth team and won the 2013 African U20 Championship with Egypt.

Egypt defeated Congo 2-1 on Sunday to qualify to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, ending 28 years of absence, as the Egyptian National Team last played in the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
