CAIRO – 28 August 2017: Egypt is participating at the 2017 World Judo Championship in Budapest with five players. Budapest is hosting the competition for the first time.

Mohamed Abdel Aal will kick off Egyptian participation in the tournament on Thursday. Weighing 81 kilograms, Abd El Aal, competes with 1,212 points. El Aal recently won the African Championship Seniors Gold Medal last April.

Hatem Abdel Akher competes on Friday at 90 kilograms. Abdel Akher, No.45 with 488 points, reached third place at the African Championship Seniors.

Ramadan Darwish is competing at 100 kilograms on Saturday. Darwish. The No.29 has 906 points. He last won a silver medal at the African Championship Seniors.

Maisara El Nagar and Ahmed Wahid will participate at 100+ kilograms on Saturday. El Nagar, No.43 came in second at African Championship Seniors. Wahid is No. 81 and has 153 points.

Budapest hosts the competition from August 28 to September 3 at László Papp Budapest Sports Arena.

It is worth mentioning that Egypt hosted the competition once in 2005.
