CAIRO – 24 August 2017: Modern Pentathlon Egyptian team achieved the silver medal in the Seniors World Championship held in Egypt from August 21 - 28.

Sherif al-Erian, President of the Egyptian Federation of Pentathlon, expressed his happiness with winner women's duo Sondos Tariq and Maryam Amer for attaining the silver medal of the Senior World Championship hosted by Egypt from August 21 - 28.

Erian said that he was happy with this unprecedented achievement, as the purpose of the federation is to engage players of both genders of the youth team in the Senior World Championship to make them try to get involved in serious competitions through participation in major tournaments, and acquire experience not only the coronation of medals.

The Egyptian women's duo Sondos Tariq (20) and Maryam Amer (15) scored 190 points in fencing competitions and 291 points in swimming and the full mark in equestrian with 300 points and 462 points in laser run leading Egyptian team to reach total points of 1243 occupying the second place and winning the silver medal.
