15 August – Nasser Essam won Bronze medal in 800m freestyle for men aged 85-89 years during 2017 FINA World Masters Championships held in Budapest, Hungary

Essam, El Gezira Sporting Club’s swimmer, competed with five other swimmers: Steve Mullins from the U.S., John Davey from Australia, Jose Penaloza from Peru, Jan Slezynski from Poland and Jor Rodriguez from Mexico. Essam, born in 1931, made a great achievment winning the Bronze medal.

FINA World Masters Championships is a swimming event for adults aged 25 up, and the games have a long history to tell.

2017 FINA World Masters is the 17th edition of the games, the first of which took place in Tokyo, Japan, in 1986. Since then, it continued to attract not only players to participate, but also fans to watch.

Since the 2015 FINA Chamionships in Kazan, Russia, the event has been played after the FINA Aquatic Championships.

Budapest hosts the competition from August 8-20, 2017.
