CAIRO – 13 August 2017: Mali defeated Angola 68-29 at Women’s U16 AfroBask final on Saturday to achieve their fifth title in a row.

Mali dominated the game during the four quarters, they won 16-11, 17- 4, 21-7 and 14-7 respectively.

Mali biggest star, Aissetou Coulibaly was the best player in the final with 25 points and six steals.

Coulibaly won the tournament’s most valuable player. She was also named in All-Star Five alongside Noemia Alexandre Massingue from Mozambique, Cacia Antonio from Angola, Sika Kone from Mali, and the only Egyptian player in the list, Habiba Elgizawy.

Egypt achieved the third place by beating Mozambique on Saturday 56-38.

Mali and Angola will represent Africa in U 17 World Cup in Belarus.
Mali continued their dominance on the competition. Mali has dominated the competition since its inception in 2009; they won all five editions of the tournament.

Mozambique hosted the competition from 5-13 August for the second time. Mozambique hosted the competition in 2013 to become the first nation to host the competition twice.
