CAIRO – 13 August: The Egyptian U-16 Women Basketball team managed to come in third place on August 12 in the U-16 African Championships held in Mozambique.

The Egyptian U-16 Basketball team managed to seal a precious victory against the hosts Mozambique in the deciding match of the third place. The following players represent Egypt in the tournament: Nada Yasser, Gana Haitham, Habiba Hatem, Salma Amr, Nour Sherif, Hana Nabil, Engy Salah, Salma Hesham, Fatma Hany, Yara Osama, Malak Khaled and Reem Ali.

Egypt lost from Angola on August 11 in the semi-finals with a score of 42-59.

Mali has dominated the competition since its creation in 2009, having won five titles, while Egypt lost three consecutive finals against Mali.

Mozambique is hosting the competition from August 5-12 for the second time, having hosted the competition in 2013, making it the first nation to host the competition twice.
