12 August 2017:Egypt lost the U-16 Women’s AfroBasket semi-final against Angola 42-59 on Friday in the competition held in Mozambique.

Egypt failed to qualify to the final, so the team missed their chance to qualify for the World Cup, as only the best two teams in the competition qualify to the U-17 Women's World Cup held in Belarus.

Angola dominated the game since its start, winning the first three halves 11-7, 25-10 and 15-14, while the Egyptian girls won the fourth 11-8.
Angola faces Mali in the final on Saturday after Mali won the other semi-final against Mozambique 63-39.

Egypt ends their participation in the competition facing Mozambique on Saturday for third place.
Mali has dominated the competition since its inception in 2009, having won four titles, while Egypt lost three consecutive finals against Mali.

Mozambique is hosting the competition from August 5-13 for the second time, having hosted the competition in 2013, making it the first nation to host the competition twice.
