CAIRO – 3 August 2017: AS Roma’s officials sent a replica of veteran player Francesco Totti’s jersey worn in his final match with the club to space on August 1.

AS Roma wrote on their official website saying, “The iconic No. 10 shirt was worn by Totti for the final time on May 28 this year, with the club subsequently suggesting that the moment be immortalized by sending a replica version of the shirt into space.”

Avio, a world leader in space travel, helped bring this idea into action and placed the jersey on the rocket “Vega,” as reported by the club’s website.

Vega took off from Italy to French Guyana and from there Vega landed into space on Tuesday night, August 1.

Roma’s former club captain Totti played his first match for AS Roma when he was just 16-years- old in 1993. His last match with AS Roma was in May 2017 against Genoa in Roma’s stadium, Stadio Olimpico.

Totti became AS Roma’s new club director on July 17, 2017.
