Egypt to host Hockey African Cup of Nations

CAIRO – 31 July 2017: The African Federation of Hockey selected Egypt on July 31 to host the Hockey African Cup of Nations (ACN). The African Cup of Nations was supposed to be held in August in South Africa, but has since changed its date and destination to Egypt in October 2017.

Ismailia, Egypt is set to host the competition October 19-29 with the following countries competing; Egypt, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania and Botswana.

The following players will most likely represent the Egyptian team in the upcoming African Cup of Nations: Ezz Ahmed, Mansour Mostafa, Atef Karim, Ibrahim Amr, Gamal Ahmed, Sayed Amr, Said Ashraf, Ahmed El Naggar, Ragab Mohamed, Mamdouh Mahmoud, Mohsen Ahmed, Nasr Mohamed, El-Ganini Ahmed, Zaki Mohamed, Mohamed Gad Elkarim, Houssam Ghobran, Ahmed Adel and Wael NourEldin, and Ali el-Shorbagy as the team head coach.

It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian national hockey team came in eighth place on July 22. Egypt lost to France in the Hockey World Cup held in South Africa.
