Egypt wins gold and silver in Modern Pentathlon Youth World Championships

CAIRO –20 July 2017:The national men’s youth modern pentathlon team won the gold medal on Wednesday’s competition at the Modern Pentathlon Youth World Championships held July 17-25 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The Egyptian team, which includes Ahmed El Gendy and Mohamed Shaban, has won the gold medal with 1,222 points, as the team beat second-place Belarus, which scored 1,220 points, while South Korea came in third with 1,218 points. The Egyptian women’s youth team had won the silver medal on Tuesday in the women's competition.

Egypt is participating in the tournament with a team consisting of Ahmed El Gendy, Mohamed Shaban, Mohannad Tarek, Ali El Din Sherif, Heidi Adel, Mariam Amer, Salma Ayman and Nourine Boules.

The team is led by head coach Rauf Hossam and coaches Amr El Said, Amr Adel, Mohamed El Gammal and Awad Sami.
