CAIRO - 22 July 2022: It was a night to remember for Zamalek fans who spent Thursday night celebrating the 2020-2021 Egyptian Cup title after defeating arch-rivals Al Ahly in the final.

The White Knights put on a dominant performance and outclassed their opponents to win the game 2-1 and they had many chances to add more goals and make the score bigger.

The boys of Jesualdo Ferreira needed just five minutes to break the deadlock as Seifeddine Jaziri received a defense-dissecting pass, which he collected before Al Ahly's goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, who left his goal to clear the ball.

El Shenawy was badly punished for leaving his goal empty as the Tunisian striker sent a perfect cross to Ahmed Sayed Zizo, who put the ball in the back of the empty net with a beautiful header.

Zamalek doubled the score after 30 minutes thanks to a fantastic shot from Imam Ashour.

Zizo combined wonderfully with Imam to set up the midfielder, who curled the ball past El Shenawy to make the score 2-0.

Al Ahly's striker Hossam Hassan, who joined the game in the first half as a replacement for the injured Mohamed Sherif, scored Al Ahly's only goal in the encounter.

Hassan skipped past Zamalek's goalkeeper, Mohamed Awwad, putting the ball in the back of the net to revive Al Ahly hopes in the match but the remaining minutes proved the opposite as Al Ahly players failed to find cracks in the defense of Zamalek, who stood their ground till the final whistle of the game.

Zamalek won the domestic double of the 2020-2021 season and for sure their victory on Saturday will give them an edge in the domestic league title race.
