CAIRO - 30 June 2022: Marwan Hamdy led Smouha to a 3-2 win over Al Ahly on Wednesday night in the Egyptian League.

A brace from Smouha's striker and another goal from Abdelkarim Elwadi sealed a shock 3-2 defeat to the Red Eagles, who fought back to secure a draw in the second half but their efforts were not enough.

Marwan opened the score in the opening minutes of the game after he danced past Al Ahly defenders and put the ball in the back of the net, giving his team an early lead.

Al Ahly missed many chances to level the score and they were punished when Elwadi doubled the score after receiving a defense-dissecting pass, which found its way to the Moroccan winger who was in the perfect place to double the score for his team.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Marwan received the ball in his own half, ran through three Al Ahly players and he was face to face with Mohamed El Shenawy, Al Ahly's goalkeeper, who could not stop his shot.

The Red Eagles were 3-0 behind with 43 minutes remaining and they pushed forward leaving a huge space for Smouha to launch their counterattacks.

Taher Mohamed Taher's header and a late goal from Hossam Hassan were not enough as Smouha secured a vital win over Al Ahly.
