CAIRO - 9 June 2022: Egypt will take on Ethiopia on Thursday night in Malawi on Matchday 2 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs started the qualifiers with a 1-0 victory at home over Guinea thanks to a late goal from Mostafa Mohamed, who is expected to lead the national team's attacking line tonight.

Mohamed Salah did not travel with the team to Malawi after picking up an injury in the opening match of the qualifiers and he is expected to be replaced by Ahmed Sayed Zizo.

Ihab Galal's men arrived in Malawi on Tuesday and held their main training session on Wednesday at Bingu National Stadium, the venue of the match.

The game was moved from Addis Ababa to Malawi as Ethiopia's home stadium does not meet the required standards to hold international matches.

"We are here to win and top the group. It will not be an easy game as Ethiopia lost the opening match and they will fight to win." Mohamed Barakat, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) board member said.

The game will start at 6:00 PM (Cairo Time).
