Salah and Trezeguet celebrate Egypt's second goal against Morocco

CAIRO-30 January 2022: Mohamed Salah scored and provided an assist to lead Egypt to defeat Morocco 2-1 and secure a place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. 

 

Egypt will face the hosts Cameroon on Thursday 3 February at Olembe Stadium in Yaounde. 

 

The Pharaohs were 1-0 behind after only seven minutes as Sofiane Boufal broke the deadlock from the spot. 

 

After the early goal, Egypt controlled the game and started wave of attacks to level the score but the Lions of Atlas stood their ground to finish the first half with a 1-0 lead. 

 

In the early minutes of the second half Salah equalized the score after converting a rebound from a close range. 

 

The remaining minutes failed to split the two sides and the Pharaohs were forced to play extra time fro the second round in a row. 

 

Salah was the hero again as he sprinted down the right flank, sending a brilliant ground cross to Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, who was waiting in the perfect place to give his team the lead. 

 

Egypt have to challenge the host nation for a place in the competition's final.
