CAIRO-26 January 2022: Two of the biggest guns in Africa face off in an exciting meeting on Wednesday in 2021 AFCON round of 16.

Douala’s Japoma Stadium is set to witness a battle for a place in the quarter-finals.

The Egyptians know how to handle the Elephants in AFCON, having defeated them on 9 matches out of 10 previous meetings in the competition.

Carlos Queiroz, Egypt national team coach, knows that the performance of the Pharaohs in Wednesday’s match will determine his fate following a run of unconvincing form in the group stage.

The Ivorians have two titles under their belt; their recent one came in 2015, with the group stage games giving their fans a reason to believe that they are able to lift the trophy for the third time in history.

The West African giants have a star-studded line-up, with a mixture of veteran and young players, who tested their abilities in a 3-1 win over Algeria in the last game of the group, knocking the title-holders out of the competition.

Mohamed Salah and his teammates hope to build on the winning momentum of their last two matches in the group and put an end to the Ivorian’s’ dreams in the competition.

The game starts on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
