CAIRO-22 January 2022: CAF announced on Friday the best players from the group stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Mohamed El Shenawy and Ahmed Hegazi earned their spots in the team, chosen by CAF’s Technical Study Group (TSG), after their standout performances in the three games of the group stage.

El Shenawy was also named as the best goalkeeper in the group stage for his brilliant display, especially in the opening game of the group against Nigeria.

Also, Cameroon’s Vincent Abubakar, the top scorer of the group stage, was named as the best player while Mali’s midfielder, Ilaix Moriba, was chosen as the best young player.

The group stage was concluded on Thursday evening and the teams are rested for two days before returning to compete in the knockout stage on Sunday.

The Pharaohs will face Ivory Coast, the leaders of Group E, on Wednesday at Japoma Stadium in Douala.
