CAIRO-24 September 2021: The new season of the Egyptian Premier League will start on 25 October, the Egyptian Football Association announced on Thursday.

EFA President Ahmed Megahed held a meeting with the Egyptian national team manager Carlos Queiroz on Thursday to discuss the national team plans for the World Cup qualifiers and his vision for the new season.

Queiroz requested to start the new league season before the start of the national team's camp in November to give him the chance to watch the players and select his squad.

The EFA agreed on Queiroz's request and decided to start the new season of the league after the end of the international break of October and the matches of the Egyptian teams in the first round of African competitions.

The EFA confirmed that the opening three weeks of the Egyptian League will be played between 25 October and 5 November.

Also, the EFA decided to postpone the Egyptian Cup quarter-finals matches to give Queiroz and his coaching staff enough time to start their preparations for the upcoming vital games in the World Cup qualifiers against Libya.

Egypt plays in Group F of the World Cup qualifiers alongside Libya, Gabon and Angola.

The Pharaohs come second in the group with four points, two points behind the leaders, Libya.
