CAIRO-11 September 2021: Egypt men’s volleyball team defeated Morocco 3-1 on Friday to book a place in the Volleyball African Championship quarter-finals.

Egypt won the first set 25-21 but the Moroccan team leveled the score with a 25-22 win in the second set.

The Pharaohs dominated the game in the third and fourth sets, which ended 25-18 and 25-19 respectively to win the game 3-1.

Egypt reached the second round as the leaders of their group with seven points, one point ahead of the second-placed, Morocco.

Egypt had a disappointing start in the competition after a dramatic 3-2 loss to Kenya in the opening game. However, the 8-time champions returned to the right track in the next two games with two victories over Tanzania and Morocco.

The Pharaohs will face Uganda on Saturday and the winner of the game will reach the semi-finals to face the winner between Tunisia and DR Congo on Monday 13 September.

Rwanda hosts the competition between 7 and 15 September.
