CAIRO-6 September 2021: The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Monday that Hossam El Badry is sacked from his position as the national team head coach.

“The EFA would like to thank El Badry and his coaching staff for their efforts with the national team. We will announce the new coaching staff in the upcoming 48 hours.” EFA statement said.

El Badry had led the Pharaohs to book a place in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

He also led Egypt in the first two rounds of the African World Cup Qualifiers and the national team managed to achieve 4 points to top the group.

However, the national team’s performance in the home victory over Angola and the 1-1 draw in Gabon raised many concerns over the ability of El Badry’s men to go far in the qualifiers.

Egypt was 1-0 behind until the last minute of the match when Mostafa Mohamed leveled the score from a header.

Egypt plays in Group F of the qualifiers alongside Libya, Gabon and Angola.
