CAIRO-17 June 2021: Al Ahly's director of football, Sayed Abdelhafiz, revealed that the team players know the importance and the difficulty of the game against Tunisian giants Esperance in the CAF Champions League semis.

“Al Ahly and Esperance have been in the semi-finals over the past four years, and this shows the difficulty of Saturday’s game.” Abdelhafiz said on Thursday.

Hammadi Agrebi stadium in Rades will host the first leg on Saturday 19 June while the second leg will be played a week later in Cairo.

Abdelhafiz added “The game against Esperance is a game of two halves. We are fully focused on Saturday’s encounter as we want to achieve a positive result ahead of the second leg in Cairo.”

According to Al Ahly official website, Ali Maaloul and Aliou Dieng will participate in Thursday's training session and they will be ready for the Saturday's match.

Al Ahly and Esperance have met on 20 previous occasions in the African competitions, with the Red Eagles securing 8 victories while Esperance managed to achieve four wins over Al Ahly.

Al Ahly's last visit to Esperance was catastrophic as the Red Eagles lost 3-0 in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final to lose the title despite having a 3-1 lead in the first leg.
