CAIRO-10 June 2021: Egypt U-23 national team director Alaa Abdelaziz said that they did not have any official talks with Galatasaray officials regarding the release of the team's striker Mostafa Mohamed to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

"Mostafa Mohamed is very happy to play for the team and represent his country at the Olympics. He will be back to Turkey after the camp and we expect him to rejoin us in July. For sure they will not stand against his will." Alaa Abdelaziz said on Thursday.

The player joined the U-23 national team's preparations for the Olympic Games as they will face their South African counterparts twice.

However, it seems that the national team officials are on the verge of having a new clash with Mostafa Mohamed's team as Turkish reports said that Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim will not let the player join the national team in the Olympics.

The men's football competitions will be played between 22 July and 7 August whereas Galatasaray will be competing in the UEFA Champions League qualification round and they want to have their Egyptian striker for the important game.

Mostafa is the starting striker for the U-23 national team and he played a key role in the team's road to win the U-23 AFCON as he won the top scorer award, having scored 4 goals.
