CAIRO-5 June 2021: Al Ahly’s defender, Badr Benoun, and Zamalek’s striker, Hamid Ahadad, joined Morocco domestic national team camp during the international break.

The duo was called up to the team by the team’s head coach Hussein Ammouta, as part of their preparations for the inaugural edition of the FIFA Arab Cup, scheduled in November.

Ammouta told press that he intends to give Benoun the captain armband of the domestic team after the player did not receive a call up from the Moroccan first team boss Vahid Halilhodzic.

The only Moroccan player in the Egyptian Premier League who received a call up for Halilhodzic’s team is Zamalek’s winger Achraf Bencherki.

The Moroccan defender joined Al Ahly in the 2020 summer transfer market and since then he established himself as one of the top defenders in the league.

After less than 10 months at Al Ahly, Benoun won the Egyptian Cup title and the CAF Super Cup title as well as helping the team wins the bronze medal of the FIFA Club World Cup.

On the other hand, it is clear that Ahadad finally found the chance to prove himself at Zamalek and he turned out to be one of the standing players in the team that tops the league table.
