CAIRO-28 May 2021: Zamalek defeated Ismaily 1-0 on Thursday night at Suez Stadium in the Egyptian Cup round of 16.

Zamalek's Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki scored the only goal in the game four minutes before half-time.

Bencharki added more excitement to the last minutes of the first half as he elbowed Ismaily's defender and the referee Amin Omar gave him a yellow card. The Moroccan did not accept the referee's decision and he protested in a way that Omar did not accept, punishing the Moroccan with the second yellow card.

Omar's decision to send Bencharki off was not the end of the chaos at Suez Stadium as Zamalek's head coach Patrice Carteron was also sent off for his aggressive behaviour against the referee.

Ismaily failed to find cracks in the defense of Zamalek in the second half, which did not witness several attempts on target from both teams.

"Many people told me before the game that the referee will go against us. I think he is Al Ahly fan." Carteron said after the game.

Zamalek will face Misr Lel Makkasa in the Egyptian Cup quarter-finals.
