CAIRO-7 May 2021: The Red Devils are back on the winning track after achieving a 2-1 win over Al Ittihad of Alexandria on Thursday night at Alexandria Stadium in the Egyptian League.

After a goalless first half, the visitors needed just 10 minutes to take a 2-0 lead thanks to two goals from Badr Benoun, who opened the score from the spot, and Mohamed Magdy Afsha.

Al Ittihad scored a late goal by Mohamed El Sabahy but it was not enough for the home team to avoid the loss to the title holders.

Al Ahly's head coach Pitso Mosimane spoke after the game and hailed the performance of his players in the game after losing five points in the last two games.

"We had a good game against Al Ittihad. We scored two goals and we were able to add more goals. We played good games in the previous period but we failed to win them so it is an important victory." Mosimane told Al Ahly official website after the game.

Al Ahly are now second in the league table with 40 points, four points behind Zamalek but the Red Devils still have two games in hand.

Al Ahly and Zamalek will face off on Monday night in the derby and Mosimane hopes to defeat Zamalek for the third game in a row since his arrival at Al Ahly.
