CAIRO-29 April 2021: Pyramids achieved a 1-0 victory over Tanzania's Namungo on Wednesday night to finish the CAF Confederation Cup group stage in a style.

The Egyptian side, who secured qualification to the quarter-finals from the previous round, got the three points thanks to a goal from Ibrahim Adel.

Pyramids achieved 12 points from four victories to finish second in the group, six points behind Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

"We played to win the game despite securing our qualification from the previous round. We gave the chance to many of the players and they did very good." Pyramids manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena said after the game.

Pyramids have secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition alongside some African superpowers like Raja, Enyimba, Orlando Pirates, JS Kabylie, Coton Sport, ASC Jaraaf and CS Sfaxien.

Pyramids reached the competition's final last season, which was their debut season in the African competitions, and they lost to RS Berkane of Morocco.

Arruabarrena added "This win will give us confidence ahead of our important game against Zamalek in the domestic league."

Pyramids will face Zamalek on Sunday night in game 19 of the Egyptian Premier League.
