CAIRO – 4 July 2017: USA’s U-19 Basketball player PJ Washington spoke on July 4 following USA’s 98-65 victory over Italy.

Washington talked about the U.S.’s aim to win the World Cup, their enjoyment in the matches, and his opinion about Egypt hosting the tournament.

Washington told the reporters, “the objective that is set to win the U-19 Basketball World Cup doesn’t cause any pressure to us. We came here to Egypt in order to enjoy playing basketball and we don’t concentrate much about the difficulty of each game because we train well and we are prepared for the big games.”

Washington added, “I am happy that my family is here cheering for me in the tournament. Also, the Egyptians are doing a great job in hosting the tournament. The fans are also great and add a great atmosphere to the matches.”

After beating Italy, the U.S. are now the leaders of group 4 with six points. The 6-time champions of the U-19 World Cup, the U.S. will be playing against Mali on July 5 in round 16.
